Wolfe Public Relations Awarded Golden Arrow for Peoples Beach to Beacon 10k Road Race

Portland PR firm lauded for well-written news releases, comprehensive PR plan

Wolfe Public Relations, a Portland-based public relations firm, has been awarded a Golden Arrow by the Maine Public Relations Council for its media relations work with the annual Peoples Beach to Beacon 10k Road Race.

Wolfe Public Relations devised and carried out an eight-month PR campaign for the 2001 Peoples Beach to Beacon, an international road race held each August in Cape Elizabeth. The aim was to promote the lead sponsor, Peoples Heritage Bank; attract attention to the race through a series of news releases and events; and assist the media.

The Golden Arrow entries were judged by public relations professionals in Connecticut, who said the PR campaign was "extremely creative and comprehensive," highlighted by "well-written news releases with lots of information."

Wolfe PR staff named on the award are Beryl and Jason Wolfe of Scarborough, the firm's owners; Dana Slone of Portland, the director of client services; and Rick Ramseyer of Cumberland, a writer at the firm. The Golden Arrow awards are presented annually by the MPRC to honor the best work in Maine public relations.

Wolfe Public Relations is a results-oriented PR firm focused on distributing the news of more than a dozen New England companies and organizations, including Martin's Point Health Care, Maine's largest not-for-profit primary care practice; Bernstein Shur, one of the state's largest law firms; Granger Northern, a major construction services firm; Regional Waste Systems, a waste-to-energy and recycling facility; and Regional Transportation Program, a non-profit transportation provider. Wolfe Public Relations also owns Wolfe News Wire, an online news release posting service for clients at http://www.wolfenews.com. The site is supported by banner ads that flash news release headlines on popular news sites such as the Portland Press Herald and MaineToday.com.
