Banknorth Group Staff Promotions, A - L, Mid-2000

Banknorth Group, Inc., headquartered in Portland, Maine, is one of the country's 50 largest commercial banks with $18.5 billion in assets. JAMES BURGESS NAMED ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT AT BANKNORTH GROUP

James S. Burgess has been promoted to assistant vice president in the Loan Operations Department at Banknorth Group, Inc., in Lewiston. He will continue to oversee the consumer and mortgage research departments and the payment processing area in his role as loan operations manager.

Burgess joined Banknorth Group in 1985 and has previously served as an escrow manager, payment processing supervisor, unit lead clerk and new loan boarding clerk.

A resident of Lisbon, Burgess served for 22 years in the U.S. Air Force before retiring with the rank of E-7. Originally from Durham, he is a 1961 graduate of Lisbon High School.

LARRY BURGESS NAMED ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT AT BANKNORTH GROUP

Larry D. Burgess has been promoted to assistant vice president in the Commercial Deposit Operations Department at Banknorth Group, Inc., in Lewiston. In his role as department manager, he will continue to manage an 18-member staff responsible for servicing cash management customers with account reconciliation, account analysis and sweep services.

Burgess joined Banknorth Group in 1996 and has previously served as lockbox manager and account reconciliation clerk.

A resident of Mechanic Falls, Burgess served for five years as an intelligence analyst in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant E-5. An Auburn native, Burgess is a 1991 graduate of Edward Little High School.

GARY CASSELMAN PROMOTED TO ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT AT BANKNORTH

Gary A. Casselman has been promoted to assistant vice president in the Technology Risk Management Department at Banknorth Group, Inc., in Lewiston. He will continue to be responsible for network, computer and Internet security for all Banknorth Group employees.

Casselman joined Banknorth Group in 1999 and has previously served as a manager in network security and as Y2K project manager.

A resident of Harpswell, Casselman is a 1982 graduate of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla., and in 1988 received a master's in psychology from City College of New York in New York City.

CONNIE CORLISS NAMED ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT AT BANKNORTH GROUP

Constance M. Corliss has been promoted to assistant vice president in the Deposit Accounting Department at Banknorth Group, Inc., in Lewiston. She will continue to be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of all department activities and personnel to ensure effective service levels.


Corliss joined Banknorth Group in 1998 and has 22 years in banking, including serving in various capacities for a number of years at another Maine bank.

Corliss and her husband, Steve, reside in Pittston. She is a 1972 graduate of Gardiner High School.

CORRINE DAMSGAARD PROMOTED TO ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT AT BANKNORTH GROUP

Corrine M. Damsgaard has been promoted to assistant vice president in the Research Department at Banknorth Group, Inc., in Lewiston. As section manager, she will continue to manage the research department, subpoenas processing and statement rendering.

Damsgaard joined Banknorth Group in 1994 and has 22 years in banking. She previously served as a supervisor in the CIF Department and as a customer service representative with Phonebank.

A resident of Bowdoin and native of Lawrence, Mass., Damsgaard is a 1974 graduate of Lawrence High School.

KATHRYN DION PROMOTED TO REGIONAL INVESTMENT MANAGER AT STRATEVEST

Kathryn M. Dion has been promoted to regional investment manager at The Stratevest Group in Portland. As senior investment manager for Maine, she is responsible for overseeing all portfolio managers and portfolio management activities including trading and investments.

The Stratevest Group, a subsidiary of Banknorth Group, Inc., provides an extensive range of money management, trust and investment services to individuals, families and businesses throughout Maine. The group has offices at One Portland Square in Portland, at 77 Exchange St. in Bangor and at 217 Main Street in Lewiston.

Dion joined The Stratevest Group in 1997 and has more than 15 years in investment management. She previously served as a portfolio manager. Dion is a Certified Financial Advisor and is a member of the Association of Investment Management and Research.

A resident of North Yarmouth, Dion is a member of the town's Planning Board and serves on the Board of Trustees of a local church. A native of Weymouth, Mass., Dion received her undergraduate degree in 1974 from Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass., and an MBA from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. in 1981.

CHRISTOPHER DROZNICK NAMED VICE PRESIDENT AT BANKNORTH GROUP

Christopher M. Droznick has been named vice president in the Residential Mortgage Collections Department at Banknorth Group in Lewiston. He will continue to oversee the mortgage collections function on a $7 billion portfolio and a staff of more than 30.

A resident of Auburn, Droznick joined Banknorth in 1998 and has more than seven years in banking. He has previously served as a foreclosure specialist, collections manager and collector at various other banks.

A native of Hudson, N.H., Droznick is a 1983 graduate of Alvirne High School, and a 1989 graduate of New Hampshire College in Manchester, N.H.

JUDITH DUNN PROMOTED TO ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT AT BANKNORTH GROUP

Judith L. Dunn has been promoted to assistant vice president in the Electronic Banking Department at Banknorth Group, Inc., in Lewiston. As manager, she will continue to oversee all aspects of the department.

Dunn joined Banknorth Group in 1999 and has 26 years in banking, working for a number of years in various capacities at another Maine bank.

A resident of Mount Vernon, Dunn is active in town affairs, serving on the town's Interviewing Committee, Job Description Committee, Policy Committee and Procedure Committee. She also is a member and past president of the Town of Mount Vernon Fire Department Auxiliary. Dunn is a 1975 graduate of Winthrop High School. She presently is taking courses through the American Institute of Banking at Thomas College in Waterville.

LORNA GETCHELL NAMED ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT AT BANKNORTH GROUP

Lorna J. Getchell has been named assistant vice president in the Mortgage Collections Department at Banknorth Group in Lewiston. She will continue to serve as the loss mitigation supervisor, overseeing the foreclosures, bankruptcies, workouts and claims of residential mortgage loans.

Getchell joined Banknorth Group in 1999 and has been in banking for 19 years. She has previously served as a collections supervisor at another Maine bank.

A resident of Farmingdale, Getchell is a member of the New England Historic Genealogical Society and the Maine Genealogical Society. She is involved in a number of genealogy-related community activities, and frequently visits residents at an area nursing home. A Gardiner native, Getchell is a 1977 graduate of Gardiner Area High School and is currently enrolled at the University of Maine in Augusta.

John R. Giard has been promoted to vice president in the Consumer Lending Department at Banknorth Group, Inc. in Portland. As a consumer liquidation and risk manager, he will continue to be responsible for consumer portfolio management.

A resident of Portland, Giard joined Banknorth in 1990 and is a member of the American Institute of Banking. Originally from Turner, he is a 1989 graduate of Leavitt Area High School.

Alan S. Johnson has been promoted to vice president in the Commercial Appraisal Department at Banknorth Group, Inc., in Portland. He will continue to be responsible for maintaining the quality of real estate appraisals used in collateral valuation.

Johnson joined Banknorth Group in 1997. He is a member of the Maine chapter of the Appraisal Institute, an international association of more than 20,000 real estate professionals, and serves on that organization's national Experience Review Panel.

A resident of Cumberland, Johnson is a 1981 graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H. A native of Berlin, N.H., Johnson is a 1977 graduate of Berlin High School.

Kathleen A. Johnson has been promoted to assistant vice president in the Electronic Banking Unit at Banknorth Group, Inc., in Lewiston. She will continue to be responsible for the installation and maintenance of ATMs.

Johnson joined Banknorth Group in 1987 and has 17 years in banking. She has previously served as an officer and as a savings unit manager.

A resident of Turner, Johnson serves as a Basic EMT with the Turner Rescue Unit. A native of Greene, she is a 1981 graduate of Leavitt Area High School. Johnson is presently attending the University of Southern Maine.

Carole A. Locke has been promoted to officer in the Deposit Operations Department at Banknorth Group, Inc., in Lewiston. In
her role as section manager, she will continue to manage the day-to-day functioning of two units within her department - deposit
accounting and adjustments.

Locke joined Banknorth Group in 1999 and has 15 years in banking.

A resident and native of Portland, Locke is a 1968 graduate of Cathedral High School in Portland.
