Bigelow Investment Advisors Opens in Portland

Two leading Maine investment professionals create independent financial consulting firm

PORTLAND, Maine – Kathryn Dion, CFA and Gary Robinson have launched Bigelow Investment Advisors, LLC, an independent financial consulting firm that specializes in advising individuals, businesses and non-profit organizations with assets of $300,000 and more.

Clients of Bigelow tend to be individuals or couples who have accumulated wealth but may have accounts at a variety of institutions and need advice and implementation of a coordinated, independent financial strategy.

Unlike many financial advisors, the firm is not affiliated with any one financial institution.

“We have no affiliations with any product vendors so we have more options – that flexibility allows us to create an investment plan that is solely in our clients’ best interest,” said Robinson, who added he and Dion created the firm to serve people who may not have worked with a financial advisor before but are ready to organize and grow their investments.

Kathryn Dion has more than 20 years of experience in business finance and investment management providing asset management for individuals, businesses and non-profit organizations. As an experienced small business owner, Dion can assist entrepreneurs, family business owners and others with specialized financial needs.

A resident of North Yarmouth, Dion is a 1974 graduate of Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass. and received an M.B.A. from Cornell University in 1981. She holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Dion is originally from Weymouth, Mass.

“Every person has a unique combination of financial goals, assets to meet those goals and tolerance for risk. We recognize that uniqueness and build that into everything we do,” Dion said.

Gary Robinson has been in the banking and investment business in Maine since 1980, advising individuals, institutions and retirement plans on investing their assets to accomplish their goals.
In 1995, he was the executive who started People’s Heritage Trust and Investment Group in Portland and Bangor, Maine and grew it to over $3 billion in client assets.

A resident of Yarmouth, Robinson has served on the board of the Family Crisis Services, the Institute for Civic Leadership and Junior Achievement. He is immediate past president of the board of the Center for Grieving Children, and is co-chair of its Capital Campaign, “Making Room for Hope.”

Robinson earned a bachelor of science in Business Administration from the University of Maine at Orono in 1979. He is originally from Kennebunk, Maine.
