Dr. Mark R. Henschke has joined Martin's Point Health Care as a staff physician at the health care center in Newington, N.H. as part of a move to expand services to patients in the Seacoast region.

Dr. Henschke, who has a long and distinguished career as a physician and a pharmacist, joins a team of three other physicians at the Newington facility. He previously served as a physician with Frisbie Health Services in Rochester, N.H., and as the medical director at Appledore Medical Group in Portsmouth, N.H.

"Dr. Henschke is a highly-skilled physician who really helps solidify an already stellar team of physicians in Newington as we continue our efforts to offer more services to our patients there. He is a fine addition to our staff," said Dr. David Howes, chief medical officer and president of Portland, Maine-based Martin's Point Health Care.

Early next year, Dr. Henschke and Drs. Cowan Stark, Mark Ballentyne and Steven Lutz will move their practices to a new, expanded Martin's Point health care clinical facility currently under construction at 161 Corporate Drive in the Pease International Tradeport in Portsmouth, N.H. The Newington facility will then close.

A resident of Rye, N.H., Dr. Henschke, 46, is married and a father of five children. A graduate of California State University in Northridge, Calif., he received a degree in pharmacy in 1983 from the University of Southern California's School of Pharmacy in Los Angeles. He received his medical degree in 1988 from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, and completed a portion of his residency at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Dr. Henschke recently was designated as a Certified Physician Executive by the Certifying Commission in Medical Management (CCMM), which cited his "educational achievements, demonstrated stature as a physician and experience in the field of medical management." He has earned a certificate in medical management from the American College of Physician Executives and Carnegie Mellon University and has been accepted into the Master's in Medical Management program at Carnegie Mellon.
