MS Society Recognizes Bernstein Shur for Raising $50,000 as Part of Annual MS 150 Bike Ride

Team Bernstein raises money to help people battling multiple sclerosis

The Maine Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society has recognized Bernstein Shur for raising more than $50,000 through the firm’s participation in the annual MS 150 bike ride.

A team of bicyclists from Bernstein Shur has participated for eight years in the annual fundraising event – a two-day, 150-mile bike ride in and around the Sebago Lake area. Team Bernstein, which included 14 participants in 2004, has now raised more than $50,000 to help people with MS and find new treatments and a cure for the disease.

The MS Society recently presented a plaque to team captain Glenn Israel of Cape Elizabeth, a labor and employment lawyer at Bernstein Shur, and Charles Miller of Portland, the firm’s managing partner.

The MS 150 is one of the MS Society’s major fund raising events in Maine each year. More than 400 riders took part in 2004. The money is used to fund programs in Maine that assist people with multiple sclerosis and their families, and also to fund research on a national level to find new treatments and ultimately a cure for MS.
