With proceeds raised from its first annual auction in March, Maine State Ballet has established a college scholarship fund. The fund, Dance for ME, has been set up to benefit high school seniors wanting to attend local colleges and continue dancing for Maine State Ballet.

"We are excited about the opportunity to support the quality education available here in Maine and to support our dancers who want to stay in the State," announced Maine State Ballet's artistic director Linda Miele. "The fund has been established with $10,000, a portion of which will be awarded this month to three graduating high school dancers."

Maine State Ballet will next perform Don Quixote at Merrill Auditorium on Friday, August 15 at 7:00 pm. Maine State Ballet, established in 1986, has become the leading professional dance company in the State of Maine. Working together, Maine State Ballet and the Maine State School for the Performing Arts encourage students to become active, intelligent young artists who will emerge as artistic leaders in their communities.
