Martin’s Point Health Care (MPHC) today announced that it will broaden its partnership with NorDx, shifting NorDx from a reference lab to managing most on-site and off-site laboratory services.

“Martin’s Point’s focus has always been on the patient,” said David Howes, M.D, president of Martin’s Point. “Now we have the opportunity to provide services faster and more economically for patients and members. In addition, the availability of NorDx’s enhanced lab technology will dramatically reduce dependence on paper reports and manual processes."

The exclusive service contract begins May 1, 2005.

Steve Hess, M.D, Chief Medical Officer at MPHC, stated: “We believe this collaboration supports our mission to provide exemplary health care while adding depth, breadth and expertise to our current services. It will enhance our ability to provide rapid turnaround times on an increased number of laboratory tests and reporting services. NorDx was selected from a number of laboratories, including national providers. A multidisciplinary selection committee assessed the capabilities, credentials, service and performance history, along with the mission and values of each bidder to ensure the best fit for MPHC, its members and its staff. After a rigorous review process, NorDx was selected as the provider of choice.
