Martin's Point Radiology Department Receives National Accreditation

American College of Radiology issues latest assessment

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. ö The Radiology Department at the MartinŐs Point Health Care facility in the Pease International Tradeport in Portsmouth has received re-accreditation by the American College of Radiology.

The accreditation, issued earlier this month, is conducted every three years to assess mammography- imaging capabilities. The distinction means that the Radiology Department in Portsmouth passed an intensive process that included a review of records and credentials as well as an inspection of the machine and the quality of films. MartinŐs Point received no deficiencies in the review.

ŇBreast health remains a significant issue for women and their families, and this important acknowledgment from the ACR reinforces our commitment to quality mammography services,Ó said Dr. David Howes, MartinŐs Point president and chief medical officer. ŇItŐs also an indication of the outstanding performance of our radiology team.Ó

The Radiology Department includes technical manager Holly Glidden, and radiology technologists Heather Perreault of Somersworth, Amy Malikowski of Portsmouth, and Isabella Semanski of Rochester.

MartinŐs Point is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the nationŐs predominant standards setting and accrediting body in health care.

Established in 1981, MartinŐs Point is a not-for-profit health care provider with facilities in Portland, Brunswick and Windham, Maine, and in Portsmouth, N.H. MartinŐs Point has a staff of more than 300 health care professionals and serves 54,000 patients ö including military retirees and dependents of active military personnel ö under all major health plans.

MartinŐs Point moved into its new expanded, state-of-the-art facility at the Pease International Tradeport in early 2001, moving from a previous location in Newington.

In Portsmouth, MartinŐs Point serves patients in the areas of family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, radiology, cardiology, and mammography, as well as other fields. The facility features four physicians and three physician assistants. For additional information on MartinŐs Point Health Care, visit online at www.martinspoint.org.
