Martin's Point and Brunswick PD to Host Substance Abuse Prevention Workshop in Brunswick
Event geared toward parents of 10-15 year olds
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Martin's Point Health Care and the Brunswick Police Department will co-host a substance abuse prevention workshop from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 31 at the Brunswick Municipal Meeting Facility at 44 McKeen Street in Brunswick.The event will feature panelists Detective Aaron Bailey, the School Resource Officer; Judge Joseph H. Field, Maine District Court; Pat Conner, Director of Behavioral Health at Mid Coast Hospital; and Barbara Chisholm, the Brunswick High School nurse.
Detectives Mark Waltz and Rick Desjardins of the Brunswick PD will act as moderators. The event is free and open to the public, and will be videotaped and aired live and at a later date on the Brunswick public access channel.
Parents who attend will learn how to recognize illegal substances and identify behavioral changes, as well as how to develop strategies for talking with their children about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.

The event is also co-sponsored by the U.S. Family Health Plan, which Martinâs Point Health Care provides in Maine to families of active-duty military personnel, and retirees and their eligible family members.
