Michael Bosse, Michael Fagone, John Osborn and Ron Schneider Named Shareholders at Bernstein Shur

Attorneys Michael R. Bosse, Michael A. Fagone, John G. Osborn, and Ronald W. Schneider have been named shareholders of Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer & Nelson, one of northern New England's largest law firms.

Mike Bosse, a resident of Portland, is a member of the firm’s Construction Law; Health Law, Agency and Health Licensure; and Litigation practice groups. He represents contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and owners in various phases of construction law and represents medical professionals involving state licensing boards.

Bosse received his J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law in 1996, where he was a member of the Maine Law Review, and his undergraduate degree from Bates College in 1993. Before joining Bernstein Shur, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert W. Clifford, Associate Justice of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court.

Bosse is a past president of the Bates College Alumni Association and is a class agent for the University of Maine School of Law and Bates College. He is a member of the Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts bars, and the United States District Court, District of Maine, and First Circuit Court of Appeals. He also is a member of the Maine, New Hampshire, Cumberland County, and American Bar Associations.

Michael Fagone, a Saco resident, is a member of the Bankruptcy & Insolvency Practice Group at Bernstein Shur, representing debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, and other parties in bankruptcy cases and in out-of-court workouts. He also represents businesses and individuals in a wide range of commercial transactions, as well as in business litigation in state and federal courts.

Fagone joined Bernstein Shur in 2001. He received his J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Maine School of Law in 1997, and his undergraduate degree from Amherst College in 1993. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Maine Satellite Chapter of Turnaround Management Association of New England. Fagone also has served on the Maine State Bar Association Committee on Revised Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code.

John Osborn, a resident of Portland, practices in the firm’s Litigation Department, concentrating in the areas of energy, construction and insurance law, as well as intellectual property and other commercial litigation. As a member of the firm’s Energy Group, he represents owners and contractors on regulatory issues and in disputes regarding power plant construction and insurance coverage in the U.S. and abroad, including Nepal, the Dominican Republic, Brazil, India and Indonesia.

Osborn also focuses on intellectual property litigation, notably copyright, trademark and trade secret disputes. His dispute resolution training and experience encompass state and federal bench and jury trials, as well as complex arbitration proceedings, in jurisdictions throughout the country.

Osborn received his J.D. in 1997 from the College of William and Mary School of Law in Virginia, where he served as an editor for the William and Mary Law Review. He also earned a Master's in Public Policy from William and Mary's Thomas Jefferson Program. Prior to attending law school, he earned a Master’s in Literature and Cultural Studies from George Mason University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont. Osborn has served as an attorney at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C. and has also completed extensive trial training with The National Institute For Trial Advocacy.

Osborn is a member of the American Bar Association (Tort and Insurance Practice Section, Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee), the Maine and the Cumberland County Bar Associations, the Maine Trial Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He also is a member and treasurer of the City of Portland Landbank commission, a site supervisor for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland and a trustee and Trails Committee Co-Chair of Portland Trails. He is BV rated by Martindale Hubbell.

Ron Schneider, a resident of Wells, is a member of the Health Law, Employment Law, and Education Law practice groups at Bernstein Shur and specializes in ERISA, health care, employment, education and criminal law litigation. He is admitted to practice in the federal and state courts of Maine and New Hampshire and in the Federal Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Schneider, who joined Bernstein Shur in 1999, received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Maine School of Law in 1996 and his undergraduate degree from Bates College in 1988. He also graduated from the Roxbury Latin School in West Roxbury, Mass. in 1984. Before joining the firm, Schneider clerked in the Maine Superior Court in Portland, serving Justices Leigh Saufley, Nancy Mills, Susan Calkins, Roland Cole, and Arthur Brennan.

Schneider serves on the Ogunquit Playhouse Foundation Board of Directors and the University of Maine School of Law Alumni Association Board. He also serves as the Chair of the Program Committee of the University of Southern Maine Corporate Partners.
