Peoples Heritage Retail Division Donates $2,600 to Maine Children's Cancer Program

PORTLAND, Maine - The Retail Banking Division of Peoples Heritage Bank has contributed $2,600 to the Maine Children's Cancer Program.

The check was presented recently by employees of the Retail Banking Division to Jim Bouchard of the Maine Children's Cancer Program. The money was raised through voluntary donations at the bank's annual manager's retreat through a raffle of items donated by vendors.

"Our branch managers are extremely pleased to make this contribution to a wonderful organization that does so much to help children and their families all over Maine," said Mary Schnobrich, Executive Vice President of the Retail Banking Division at Peoples.

Founded in 1986, the Maine Children's Cancer Program provides comprehensive medical and psychosocial support services to Maine's children with cancer and their families. The program's specialized team includes pediatric oncologists, pediatric nurses, social workers and clinical research staff. The program is often described as a special place where love and hope and support are administered along with the potent medicines of cancer treatment.

The Maine Children's Cancer Program now serves hundreds of families from throughout Maine who have been touched by childhood cancer. Each year, approximately 35 new children from birth to age 21, along with their families, come to the program for initial diagnosis and treatment.

Peoples Heritage Bank is a Maine-based bank with more than 60 branches throughout the state, five of which operate as Oxford Bank & Trust, a subsidiary of the bank.
