PORTLAND, Maine – Two design and communications professionals, Rand Ardell and Jessica Simmons, have joined forces to launch Simmons Ardell Design at One Union Wharf in Portland, Maine.

Simmons Ardell Design provides a wide range of services including identity, print, interactive, advertising, packaging, retail, and publication and editorial design to businesses and other organizations in the U.S. and Canada.

The firm’s two principals, who reside in South Portland, draw on a wide range of industry experience in design, advertising and marketing.
Rand Ardell works with clients on communications strategy and manages the firm’s operations. He most recently served as the director of marketing at Bernstein Shur, one of Northern New England’s largest multi-service law firms. He also has served as director of client services at McCabe, Duval + Associates in Portland and as vice president and director of operations at MacLaren McCann, a large Canadian advertising agency based in Toronto.
Jessica Simmons, who directs and oversees the firm’s creative work, previously served as the principal of J. Simmons Design of Portland, Maine. Earlier, she served as the design director at McCabe, Duval + Associates of Portland and held positions with design firms Milton Glaser Inc. and WBMG Inc. of New York City, as well as Alexander Isley Inc. of Redding, Conn. Simmons is a founding board member of the Maine chapter of AIGA, the professional association for design.
