“This is a great honor for my students to be selected to perform at Carnegie Hall. The Rincon/University High School Choirs are made up of some of the finest musicians in the State of Arizona, so we’re raising funds throughout the year to make sure all the students in the Concert Choir can go if they choose.” said Mareena Boosamra Ball, Director of Choral Activities at Rincon/University High School. Parents and friends can also make an Arizona State Tax Credit donation targeting the Choir before the end of the year. Donations can be made online at https://tusdstats.tusd.k12.az.us/paweb/utility/taxcredit/school.aspx

This will be the fourth time the school has traveled to New York to appear at Carnegie Hall and the fifth time for Ms. Boosamra Ball, who before joining Rincon/University High was a choral teacher at Cholla High School. About 60 choir students are expected to go on the school trip during the 2012 spring break.

Rincon/University HS (RUHS) Choirs holding annual rummage sale Oct. 15 at HS to raise funds for NYC trip to perform at Carnegie Hall. The students will spend five days and four nights in New York City, rehearsing each day before the April 8 performance at Carnegie Hall. The trip is organized by Mid America Productions.

“The students will also tour the city, see a musical or opera, visit many cultural sights such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and other NYC attractions, but the main reason for going is to appear at Carnegie Hall,” added Boosamra Ball.

The students will also raise funds themselves to help pay for their trip, asking friends, family and neighbors to donate specifically to the choir via the tax credit program -- or by donating items to the rummage sale or silent auction.
